Invited by: You've already let me in you fools! Mwahahaha!
Other Character: Jester Lavorre (Critical Role, Campaign 2)
Character Name: Orym of the Air Ashari
Journal:
bigmoonlittlemoon
Character's Age: 30ish
Canon: Critical Role (Campaign 3)
Canon Point: Episode 48, after escaping the Feywild + CRAU from Folkmore
Powers:
Orym's magical abilities are pretty limited. He can cast two cantrips:
1. Druidcraft - which allows him to grow plants (and which he uses quite often to make flowers), light a small fire or a few other minor effects (outlined here)
2. Gust - which does what is says on the tin (outlined here)
Orym's sword, which he has with him, also has magical abilities. It can shoot vines and use those to grab and pull enemies. It can also send sharp currents of air outward up to fifteen feet (outlined here)
His boots let him leap higher than normal. Magic boots!
Other than this, Orym is a very skilled fighter, but there's nothing super-human about him. He's just a little guy.
Sample(s): TDM Top Level & Threads
As this is a game set loosely in Regency England, we want to know how your character will adapt to this setting. How might they react to the culture and societal expectations placed upon them as a member of the upper class?:
Orym is used to handling things that are thrown at him. Ever since his husband and father-in-law were killed more than five years ago, he's been something of a wanderer without much of anywhere to call home, so he is very accustomed to adapting to new places.
As a former Tempest Blade, guard to the Voice of the Tempest (the leader of the Air Ashari) he's also used to a level of formality and decorum that his position required. So while it was less societal expectations, Orym is certainly familiar with the fact that there are definite rules in different places. Now, that doesn't mean he always follows said rules these days -- especially if some of those rules strike him as harmful.
I think the hardest adjustment for him will be the fashion. He's not used to anything quite so structured or buttoned up. It will impede his movements with his fighting style, so he'll bristle. He's also not used to the overt formality, but he's exceptionally observant and fairly sharp, so he'll muddle through.
You've been invited to a formal dinner! How charming! Now, how do you plan to conduct yourself in such a space? Remember, appearance is everything!:
Formal dinners really aren't my thing. Don't get me wrong, I've been to a few, and they're fine if that's what you like. It does seem pretty important around here though, so I guess I've got to get my act together, right?
I mean, hopefully someone can give me some advice on what to wear. I'm really not good at that at all. Maybe I can ask Dorian though. Fashion is definitely more his thing. [A thought seems to occur right here.] Maybe we could coordinate.
Anyway, with a little help with the clothes, I can stand up straight and look decent at least. Polite conversation, sure. No problem. But is there a reason there are so many forks? I've only got one mouth.
Is there a cheat sheet for this?
